Joint distribution of 910 food baskets in Hodeidah for families of the most poor categories
As part of the humanitarian efforts for the relief of civilians in the Yemeni province of Hodeidah on the west coast of the country and with the increasing suffering of its population as a result of the war on the outskirts of the city, the organisations of Yemen Aid , Pure Hands and the International Council for Relief and Development ICRD distributed 910 food basket containing various types of food in the hope of easing the suffering of the most affected groups of the poorest families, Thalassemia patients and volunteers from the public school teachers in the districts of Hawk and the city center.
The project was started on th 17th of January 2019 and lasted for five days, including surveying, recording and screening of the needy people from the poorest and most vulnerable groups in the city and identifying the target areas, said Osama Ayesh, director of the food basket distribution project. Ayesh pointed out that the humanitarian situation in Hodeidah has become very worrying and needs more direct humanitarian interventions by humanitarian agencies and organizations, especially after the deterioration of health and living in the city, which is the second largest city in terms of population. This project comes as a result of the efforts of the Yemeni community in the US state of Michigan through their efforts to establish charity events supporting Yemeni relief projects in areas that were directly affected by the war and are on the verge of total famine, according to international and local reports.Share
